[Product Sharing] TREX Semiconductor 1C06X-F5 Series with DESAT Protection, Single-Channel Isolated Driver Chip

2023-01-11

1. Product Overview

The 1C06X-F5 series is used to drive IGBTs, power MOSFETs, and SiC MOSFETs in drive applications, providing protection to ensure safe operation. The protections offered by the 1C06X-F5 include UVLO, Miller clamp, DESAT protection, and soft shutdown. In the event of a short circuit or fault, it reports through an independent pin to protect the power devices from damage under abnormal conditions. The unique CMTI enhanced filtering design provides a minimum common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 150kV/μs, supporting system robustness. The maximum operating supply voltage of this driver is 32V, and the input side accepts a supply voltage from 3V to 5.5V. Integrated protection functions reduce peripheral circuits and save PCB space.

5. Functional Description

DESAT Function When the DESAT pin voltage rises to the internal reference voltage VDESAT and after a certain blanking time TDESAT_Filter, the desaturation protection activates and actively turns off the IGBT drive output. After a delay TDESAT_FLT, the FLT fault alarm output is activated and toggled.

Active Miller Clamp In a half-bridge topology, the upper and lower IGBTs conduct alternately. Under this high dV/dt condition, to prevent common mode issues, the active Miller clamp clamps the gate voltage to VEE2 when the gate voltage falls to VCLAMP during turn-off. When the input is triggered again, this active Miller clamp function stops working.

Fault Alarm Output (/FLT) /FLT is high impedance in normal state. When desaturation protection occurs, /FLT becomes low impedance. This /FLT fault alarm output can be connected with other types of protection (such as over-temperature) to provide feedback to the MCU/DSP.

Reset Signal (/RST) First, it can be used as a chip enable or disable control input pin. The chip operates only when /RST is high; when /RST is low, the driver outputs no signal. To ensure circuit stability and reliability, the input pulse width should be greater than the defined minimum pulse width TMINRST. Second, it can serve as a DESAT protection reset function. After DESAT protection, pulling /RST low for a time longer than TRST and then returning it high will allow the chip to resume operation; otherwise, the chip remains in DESAT protection state.

Ready Status Detection (RDY) RDY is the chip status detection output pin. When both VCC1 and VCC2 are above the UVLO undervoltage threshold, RDY outputs a high level to feedback the status to the MCU/DSP. If either VCC1 or VCC2 falls below the UVLO threshold, RDY outputs a low level to indicate the status to the MCU/DSP.
