TREX Semiconductor's TRW5065SL2-A has passed the automotive electronics AEC-Q101 certification tests, including environmental stress acceleration tests, accelerated life simulation tests, package integration tests, electrical characteristic verification tests, and a series of automotive-grade certification tests. This is TREX Semiconductor's first product to pass automotive-grade certification, marking that TREX Semiconductor has established an automotive-grade product control system compliant with the IATF16949 quality system standards, capable of providing customers with highly reliable automotive-grade chips, taking an important step into the automotive electronics field.

The TRW5065SL2-A is a 50A, 600V high-reliability automotive-grade IGBT single transistor, featuring efficient switching characteristics, low conduction loss, and low switching loss, mainly used in automotive air conditioning and PTC fields.

AECQ is an automotive qualification standard established by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC), which was set up by Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors to establish a unified parts qualification and quality system standard. AEC stands for "Automotive Electronics Council," a group formed by major automakers and key U.S. component manufacturers aimed at standardizing the reliability and qualification standards of automotive electronic components. AEC has established quality control standards including AEC-Q100 (integrated circuits IC), AEC-Q101 (discrete devices), AEC-Q102 (discrete optoelectronic LEDs), AEC-Q103 (MEMS), AEC-Q104 (multi-chip modules), and AEC-Q200 (passive components).
As an automotive certification standard, the testing conditions of AEC-Q101 are more stringent than those for consumer/industrial control chips. It specifies the experimental projects and conditions that various automotive components must complete to verify whether electronic components meet AEC-Q requirements.
In addition, the handling methods for device manufacturing and design change notifications differ. For automotive-grade devices, re-certification and change notification requirements are much stricter than for industrial or commercial devices. For example, many minor process changes in industrial devices do not require notifying customers or re-certifying the device, but automotive devices must strictly comply with the change management specifications of AEC-Q101.
AEC-Q101 is a reliability test standard specification formulated and implemented for automotive applications, automotive parts, and automotive onboard electronics. Its purpose is to establish quality management control standards and improve the stability and standardization of automotive electronics. AEC-Q101 certification is the entry ticket for integrated circuit manufacturers into the automotive field. Although it is not a mandatory certification system, it has now become a common testing standard in the automotive electronics field.
